Amnesty International's Living Library at ZŠ Stříbrnická

Amnesty International, one of the biggest movements in the world for investigating and fighting against human rights violations, presented their ‘Living Library’ for us. Children from year seven, in partnership with the Erasmus+ project were invited to ‘read’ a few books. On the morning of June 8th students were able to learn about Amnesty International and how they can participate in the movement to defend human rights while completing a workshop aimed at increasing social awareness and understanding. During their time ‘reading’, students chatted with a few interesting people from various minority groups: a homosexual, a refugee from the Congo, a Jew and a Romani. For many of the students it was the first time in their lives that they had been able to meet such people face to face, and we hope the workshop has helped to lessen prejudices and the effects of negative stereotypes about these groups.
